About the HT back pressure regulators

Customers use the HT (High Temperature) units often in applications where condensation of the media should not go back into the liquid phase. The media is coming from a reactor. Although the multi-orifice design could cope with the two-phase flow, the composition of the exhaust from the reaction should not be influenced.

Customers can use the standard Equilibar® back pressure regulators from up to 300°C, while they can use the HT units up to 450°C. We can use Graphite o-rings and Grafoil diaphragms to withstand these higher temperatures. In comparison with traditional valves the rangeability of 1:1000 is still very large. Compared to Equilibar back pressure regulators build for temperature up to 300°C, the rangeability is a little compromised.

The use of Graphite o-rings requires a bigger torque to get good sealing. We reduce this problem in the UHT (ultra high temperature) series. In these units we use Silver coated Inconel o-rings to keep the diaphragm in place in order to create a seal to the environment. Our blog about this topic is especially relevant, please find the link below.
