About the High Temperature series back pressure regulators

Customers use the units from the High Temperature series often in certain applications. Within these applications, the condensation of the media coming from a reactor should not go back into the liquid phase. Although the multi-orifice design can cope with the two phase flow, it should not influence the composition of the exhaust from the reaction.

Customers can use a standard Equilibar® back pressure regulator from up to 300°C. The back pressure regulators can use Graphite o-rings and Grafoil diaphragms to withstand higher temperatures. In comparison with traditional valves, the rangeability of 1:1000 is still very large. Since the Equilibar back pressure regulators are built for temperatures up to 300°C, the rangeability is somewhat compromised.

The use of Graphite o-rings requires a bigger torque to get good sealing. Therefore we reduce this problem in the UHT (Ultra High Temperature) series. We keep the diaphragm in place. Furthermore, we use Silver coated Inconel o-rings in the unit to create a seal to the environment. Our blog about this topic is especially relevant, please find the link below.
